Nearly 50,000 people have been displaced in northern Myanmar due to fighting between ethnic armed groups and the military. This offensive poses a significant challenge to the junta since it seized power earlier this year. The conflict has disrupted trade routes with China, and the armed groups claim to have captured military outposts. The clashes have also caused disruptions to communication and humanitarian efforts. In addition to the displacement in northern Shan state, clashes in Sagaing region and Kachin state have displaced another 40,000 people.
